Early Service 9:30 a.m.

Where:

  • In the church sanctuary. The handicap entrance is on L street, right next to 12th. There are two other entrances on 12th street that are through a set of double wooden doors. The entrance on the left leads to the back of the sanctuary, while the entrance on the right is on the side of the sanctuary, both entrances are appropriate. Parking can be found on the street and in a small parking lot across from 12th street.

What to Expect

  • Services last about one hour.

  • The music consists of hymns in four-part harmony, with a piano or organ accompaniment.

  • Congregants tend to be calm and reserved during the service, (but the pastor does appreciate the occasional amen during the sermon)

  • Coffee and cookies are available after the service.

Dress

  • Congregants tend to dress in business casual to casual. The dress ranges from a button-up shirt and black pants to a nice t-shirt and jeans. Women typically wear pants.

Accessibility

  • We are wheelchair accessible, with an ADA-compliant ramp on L street, automatic door, and recently remodeled indoor ramp. There are shortened pews for you to park your wheelchair beside.

  • We have hearing assistance headphones that play audio directly from our sound system.

  • We have printed out sermons and large text bulletins.

Theology

  • This congregation is part of the Anabaptist church, which is a historic peace church, thus many in our congregation are anti-war and pro-peace.

  • You will not find an American flag in our sanctuary. As a church, we believe that our first allegiance is to God alone.

  • This congregation has been described as a safe place to ask questions.

  • In our progressive congregation, all are welcome. We welcome LGTBQIA* individuals, talk about the biblical foundation of social justice, and emphasize the journey of faith as a head and heart experience.

  • We welcome tough questions and mystery, rather than certainty.

Zoom Worship

We will maintain a zoom option for our congregants far away, visiting family, or simply want to worship from the comfort of their own home. When you are on zoom, we do hope you will participate in two sharing times, at the beginning of the service we pass the peace where you will be placed in a breakout room with 2-3 other families to get to know each other. Second, we have a congregational sharing time when you can share prayer concerns, celebrations, or introduce yourself.
