Small Groups
Our church is full of small groups of people who meet regularly, sometimes for decades. This is because all you have to do to start one is stand up in church and announce an activity or topic and interested people will join together. Our Sunday Schools also function as small groups, but here are the groups that meet during the week.
Wednesday Morning Prayer
A group meets every Wednesday morning to talk about their weeks and share a circle prayer for themselves and their community. This group of friends has been meeting for many years. Contact Richard Peterson if interested.
Meets Wednesdays at 6:30 am in a member’s house.
Supportive Fellowship of First Mennonite Church
This is a group of LGBTQ allies who want this church to be more inclusive for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and more people. This group officially began in 2015, though its members have been fighting for inclusion since the 1980s. They have a welcoming statement and the support of 95% of the early service.
Walking Group
People from the Reedley area gather together every Sunday afternoon to walk along the beautiful Kings River. These walks are a great time to visit and share with each other. They meet at the Reedley park and ride across the street from Jack-in-the-Box, between 3-7pm depending on the season.
Needles and Notions
A group of quilters, knitters, and craftspeople who create prayer comforters for people who are sick, new children, and others. Otherwise, they enjoy sitting with each other as they work on their own projects.
Meet Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. in ed room 7/8
